Electricity Bills in India

Ignorance is bliss. My day was going great till the time I did some research on my last electricity bill.

From my total electricity bill amount, only 57% is energy consumption charge.

Remaining amount was for:

Wheeling Charge: 15%

Fuel Adjustment Charge: 10%

Government Taxes: 16%

What I found out was, wheeling charge is Electricity Supply Companies (ESCOMS) take for distribution channels. And Fuel Adjustment Charge is ESCOMS adjustment for increasing coal/raw material prices.

All this while Adani Power reported Net Profit of Rs 4,911.58 crore in March 2022 , up from Rs 1,269.98 crore last year!

And the government decided to raise FAC charges last month:
